What's Your Mission?

Every great brand has a great slogan, and I'm not just talking about the obvious like "I'm Lovin' It" or "Just Do It". Even smaller brands have slogan's or mission statements that tell what they're all about in just a few words or sentences.

Such as:

  1. Life is Good: "To spread the power of optimism"
  2. The Letter Mag: "Inspiring the Everyday Woman"

Just because your YouTube channel isn't a business (yet), doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to easily explain what your all about when someone asks you about your channel.

My YouTube mission statement/slogan is: "Dream Believe Achieve."

So now let's figure out what the WHY and WHAT is of your channel.

  • What are the 3 main things your channel is about?
    • ex: health, fitness, vlogs
  • What set's your channel apart from other similar channels?
    • ex: I am no fitness or health expert. I simply want to take others through my journey of self improvement.
  • How do you want your viewers to feel watching your videos?
    • ex: motivated and happy

Once you answer those questions, start forming the words you wrote down (health, personal journey, not professional) and form sentences explaining your answers.

Out of the example answers above, the mission statement for that channel could be: "A Relatable Girl's Journey To Health"

See how it all came together? Don't get frustrated if you can't come up with the perfect sentence or statement yet. It may take you actually creating your first few (or hundred) videos to get a grasp on what you want to portray with your channel.

Once you do have your mission statement, make sure your audience knows it! Make it your tagline in your banner, add it to your description box, and even the intro/outro to your videos!

Clearly defining what your channel is about and how it will benefit the community will put you years ahead of other starting creators, and when your audience knows what you have to offer, it will make it that much easier for them to click
